Famous hindu religious places in india

India is a world hub of major religious groups and practices. You’ll look for a Hindu temple on nearly every street, mosques dotted around most cities, churches, synagogues and Buddhist monasteries. Take your pick, India has it. Consequently my list of the top five religious places to go to in India is by no means exhaustive, however it does give a rough help guide to some of the best.

It is among top famous Hindu religious places in India. There are millions of deities in Hinduism. Shiva is often considered as the most powerful of them all. The most revered temple dedicated to Shiva is located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in Amarnath. It is a cave located at more than 3,800 metres high. The main attraction of the temple is the ice stalagmite Shiva Linga.

Haridwar, Uttarakhand

Haridwar, is one of the seven sacred Hindu Pilgrimages in India and is particularly revered as the source of the River Ganges or Ganga is situated here. Every year Haridwar (the gateway to pilgrimages for Lord Hari/Vishnu, Lord Shiva, the Mother Goddess and Goddess Ganga) is swamped by devotees in their droves who come from across the country and even abroad to seek the blessings of this spiritual haven. It is also one of the four venues for the annual spiritual fair, the Kumbh Mela.

The Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh

The Khajuraho Temples is a visual, architectural complex where every wall gives us an historical insight into the culture and eroticism of ancient India.  It has become a popular honeymoon destination and famous for its dance festival held during every March.

Badrinath is considered the holiest of the four important shrines in Garhwal. The town is at an altitude of 3,133 m. above sea level, situated on the left bank of river Alaknanda and exactly between the two mountains Nara and Narayan. The shrine is dedicated to Vishnu, the preserver and falls in the religious itinerary of every devout Hindu.
